Beating the Rabbits (and Possums)

Kingston Agricultural Society is indeed fortunate to own the Morrish Pavilion. It’s over 800 sqm.

The pavilion was especially useful for our annual Rural Schools Challenge at the 2023 Show when rain intervened on proceedings.

Unfortunately, the walls do not keep out rabbits and possums.

We have received a $10,000 grant to lay a concrete edge around the entire inside.  That concrete plinth will set an edge for later stages when we raise funds to lay a concrete floor, enhancing the usability of this great facility.

That’s great news!  To make it happen we need to move everything out and hand dig the trenches – not too deep, to let the professionals setup the formwork and pour concrete.
Then we’ll move back in.

As is usual with these grants our volunteer hours are counted.  We’ll have access to some labour saving machinery also.

If you can assist or know others who could help, even for a few hours, please get in touch.  We’ll be kicking off the main effort in late April with a plan to lay concrete in June.
